In past years, the Museum conducted a statewide Tsunami Essay Contest. Hawaii school children in grades 5-12 wrote essays responding to the question, "Does anyone you know have a tsunami story to tell?" Contestants conducted oral history interviews with survivors and witnesses of the past tsunami events that have struck the state.
